Bounty Hunters & Assassins

Does Iran115 hire bounty hunters and assassins? On twitter?

We have been very amused by the belief of some in the west that we actually hire bounty hunters and assassins. I guess it is time to set the record straight.
It was my fault the rumor started, and it has gotten a little out of hand. As in, I think some of you actually believe it.

The tweet was something like this:
"Bounty Hunters wanted. Each bounty over 1,000,000 dollars. Skype: jamshid.azadinejad"
It was sent around 03:00am in the morning. In my early days of tweeting.
Along with tweets like this:
"maybe we engage in psychological warfare; maybe we don't.
or like this:
"Hey regime, why do you play that loud music at the border. Oh, can you tell those dogs to shut up?"

Why did we do this? We heard the regime was watching twitter. we decided to give them a hard time and get them to spend money. However, our tweets tried to clue people in about what we were doing.

Not one bounty hunter ever responded to the bounty hunter add
proof that most people took the tweet to be what it was: a joke. A ruse. Psychological warfare targeted at the regime.
Nothing more; nothing less.
Bounty hunters on twitter? For a million dollars? Seemed very funny at the time.
We have never hired bounty hunters or assassins, and we would never engage in such behavior. And if we were actually going to do something like that: we sure in heck would not tweet about it,.

When we first started using twitter, our objective was to have the regime spend money chasing phantoms. We were trying to use our knowledge of the country, their paranoia, and combined that with our location in Washington to confuse and befuddle them as to who we were and what we were doing.
Apparently, some in the west fell for it as well, which was never our intention. And in fact, we encourage non-violent tactics when possible. In order to wage psychological warfare against the regime, we were talking up a storm, to try to support the reformers by opening up multiple fronts for the government in Iran. We would rather have change come from within.

Now, this does not mean that we don't welcome consultants and professionals to lend their experience and skills to the democratic movement. We would for instance, make a deal with somebody to say: provide some financing, equipment or resources in exchange for some benefit after the objective has been accomplished. So long as it is a reasonable request and not illegal.
